Starting Out

Amelia,

Here is a house-warming post for you and Matt, courtesy of The Family Creative Workshop Vol. 22, which itself is courtesy of the underwhelming thrift store down the street from my house.

You should know - though you probably won't be surprised - that Vol. 22's pages promise further detail on the following:

Vinegars
Vivariums
Walking Sticks
Watercolors
Weather Forecasting
Weaving
Whistles and Flutes
Wind Harps
Wine Making
and Winter Sculpture

I will probably study this last one closely.

Alas, my friend, on this eve of our great country's day of independence, I wish you well in your new, All Growsed Up, house!  May your future be as gay as this young couple's, and may Matt stay close to that time-honored tradition: flute wooing.

Mazel tov!

Dear Kara:
Thank you for this. I've Googled vivarium and discovered, via Wikipedia, that a "vivarium (Latin, literally for "place of life"; plural: vivaria or vivariums) is an area, usually enclosed, for keeping and raising animals or plants for observation or research." Also, sans flute and socks on the woman, the above photo is kind of eerily representative of the modern-day hipster family... wouldn't you agree?!
All the best!
Amelia
